If you are thinking of getting a puppy you must be ready to give up a lot of time for him. In general a puppy is like a human baby, it requires a lot more looking after than a grown up child. A part from the feeding, grooming, and walking, you need to be able to devote time to play and train him, for example to stimulate him with new toys. At the puppy stage you may need to be with him for 15 minutes out of every 2 hours to make sure he does not relieve himself on your carpet.
If you are unable to devote this much time to your puppy your best to choose a different type of animal as a pet or do visit a dog rescue center and try to find an older trained dog.
As a puppy owner you must be responsible. A puppy requires certain things to stay happy, healthy, and loyal. Responsible activities vital to the survival and healthiness of your puppy include playing, exercising, teaching, grooming, feeding and watering.
Your dog counts on you, you can not let him down. Taking responsibility for your dog is not all fun and games. Your puppy will inevitably do something wrong, when this happens its important to react in a responsible manner. That is to try to teach him kindly what he did wrong rather than shouting or punishing him.
Puppies, as mentioned earlier are babies. They will inevitably do things which are wrong and will not learn from their first mistake. However, with your patience and correct technique you can teach him to be a very good family dog. Remember to be firm, repeat instructions if you needed, but don’t get angry. Teaching your puppy in a way which makes him happy and healthy is better than making him afraid and sad.
